Otis Nugatory Bass-lines so fat, they're wider than the world. Slinky beats. It's official: the term "groovy" has been successfully rehabilitated by these Overlords. Struggling not to play this overmuch and wear it out.

Kay Smoljak Don't think, just listen and feel. Favorite track: Mystery Shopper.

Tim Rose Really like the uniqueness of the sound - the only drawback is why is the music SO compressed the dynamic range on your albums is so poor.I have this album on vinyl which to my ears sounds less compressed and much less muddier. Favorite track: Mystery Shopper.
Risto Louhi

Risto Louhi A truly great album that finally got the much awaited re-release it so well deserved. Finely crafted fuzzy sounds evolving into...more fuzz? Persistent - yet lively. Relaxing - yet stimulating. Favorite track: Mystery Shopper.

about

Few bands are as aptly named as Pharaoh Overlord.

Few albums are as aptly named as Pharaoh Overlord #1.

Since the inception of the trio in 2001, they’ve carved up imposing, yet weirdly cosy monoliths erected in the epic desert of original rock and roll. Pharaoh Overlord’s stoner rock klang on the debut is down-to-earth due to sheer weight of the riffs. The light touch and the ease with which Leppänen, Lehtisalo and Westerlund lift the weight of the riffs off the ground and propel them on abysmal orbits works like a magician’s trick, a cathartic sleight of hand. In the case of Pharaoh Overlord, the magic endures.

Pharaoh Overlord #1 is a stone-cold classic.

The album is originally released on CD (ektro-010) in 2001.
